1. You can get to the Relationship Filter by going to Seach > Advanced Focus/Filter or through the Export Wizard.
  2. In the Relationship Filter section use the down arrow to select the type of relationship. Then click Select.
  3. Individual will include just the one person in the GEDCOM.
  4. Couple will include the individual and his/her spouse.
  5. Family will include the individual's immediate family.
  6. If you select this option, a prompt will ask you to select which family: the individual as a child, the individual as a parent, or all families in which this individual is a part. Select which option you want and click OK.
  7. All will select all the individuals in the file. This can be used with another relationship filter to deselect a few individuals or a line of relations.
  8. All related will select the individual and all others who are related, including ancestors, descendants, siblings, aunts, uncles, spouses and in-laws.
  9. Ancestors will select the individual, the spouse, parents, children, and all direct-line ancestors. When you select this option, you will be asked to indicate the Number of generations included, the number of Descendant generations, and the other Spouses and Parents. When you select the spouses option, it will include the other spouses for the individual, parents, and direct-line ancestors, as well as all spouses for the descendants. When you select the parents option, it will include all of the parents for anyone with more than the primary parents.
  10. Click OK when you have selected all your options.
  11. All Ancestral Related will select all the same individuals as the Ancestors option in addition to all collateral lines.
  12. A prompt will ask if we want to include all parents (as opposed to just the primary parents). Click Yes or No.
  13. The Descendants option will select the individual and his or her descendants.
  14. You will be asked to select the Number of generations to be included as well as whether or not to include any Spouses (if this is not selected, not even the primary spouse will be included). Click OK.
  15. All Descendants Related will select the individual and his or her descendants, as well as the siblings, parents, spouses, and children of the descendants. The ancestors of each of those individuals will also be included.
  16. You can also select an individual and choose a relationship type and then click Deselect.
  17. If you want to clear the Relationship Filter, click Clear.
  18. You can use the Field Filter to select people to be included in the GEDCOM.
  19. Click Define in the Field Filter section to set the parameters of the filter.
  20. Use the list of Possible Fields to select what you want to define.
  21. Highlight one of the fields.
  22. Click the arrow pointing to the right that is located in the middle of the screen.
  23. This will transfer the chosen field into the Current Filter field.
  24. If the selected field needs to be further defined, a prompt will ask you to provide those details. For instance, if you choose the field Name, a field will appear where you can choose to filter using the Surname and Given names, the Surname only, or the Given names only. Then use the down arrow to select how the filter should be applied; the options are Matches, Does not match, Contains, Does not contain, Sounds like, Does not sound like, Exists, Does not exist, Is less than, Is greater than, and Range. The last step is to enter the Text that will be used to filter.
  25. Click OK when you have defined that field.
  26. Highlight any item in the Current Filter field and click the arrow pointing to the left to remove that item from the filter.
  27. Click the double arrow pointing to the left to clear the whole Current Filter field.
  28. Highlight any item in the Current Filter field and click Modify to change the details of that field.
  29. Highlight any item in the Current Filter field and click the up or down arrows to move it within the field.
  30. Click Save to save the Current Filter so you can use it again without having to recreate it.
  31. This will ask for a Field List Name. Type one in.
  32. Click Save.
  33. To use a saved field filter, click Retrieve.
  34. Select the desired filter from the Field List Name field and click Open.
  35. When the Field List Name field is open, you can highlight a list item and click Delete to delete that item.
  36. Click OK when you have defined the field filter completely.
  37. The filter will find all the individuals who fit into the defined parameters.
  38. Click Clear in the Field Filter section to delete the parameters that you set (if you saved them as a Field List Name this will not be deleted.
  39. You can use the Relationship Filter and the Field Filter together using the down arrow in between them. You can select AND, OR or NOT.
  40. When you have selected all the individuals that should be included in the GEDCOM, click OK.
