Pedigree Resource File Submission

  1. You will need a GEDCOM to submit your file to Pedigree Resource File. See the GEDCOM unit to learn how to export a GEDCOM.
  2. Go to http://www.familysearch.org.
  3. Click on Share Information.
  4. Type your User Name and Password into the appropriate fields. If you have not registered with FamilySearch.org already, click I need to register to do so.
  5. To register you will need to enter your name, address, and other information. If you would like to register as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, enter your Membership Record Number and your Confirmation Date. This information is available from your ward clerk. You do not need to enter this information to successfully register or to submit to Pedigree Resource File.
  6. After you have signed in or register, click Share My Genealogy.
  7. Next click Submit My Genealogy.
  8. Agree to the conditions by clicking I Accept.
  9. Click Browse to find the GEDCOM that you saved.
  10. Add a brief description of your file.
  11. If you have a web page with your genealogy on it, you can also enter the URL. This information will then be included with your submission so that others may view the website.
  12. Click Submit.
  13. You will know that your file was successfully uploaded when the screen appears with your submission number.
  14. You submission will be included in the next set of Pedigree Resource File CDs that is released. There is a new set of CDs released every 3-4 months. Much of the information will also be available on the index available at http://www.familysearch.org.
