Pedigree View

  1. The Pedigree View is where you see the 5-generation pedigree chart of the highlighted individual.
  2. To see the pedigree chart of one of the 5th generation for one of the individuals at the end of the line, click the arrow to the right of his or her field.
  3. To see the descendants of the 1st generation, click the arrow to the left of his or her field.
  4. Any arrow that is filled in black means the line continues to the next generation (or, in the cases of the children, it means the child has a spouse and/or a child).
  5. An arrow that is just an outline means that there is not another generation beyond the current one.
  6. A field that has a black triangle in the upper right-hand corner indicates a note or source for that individual.
  7. A field that has a black square in the upper right-hand corner indicates that a multimedia photo, video clip or sound clip is attached to that individual.
  8. To see more details about an individual, hold the cursor over the individual's field. This will bring up an InfoBox that has birth, marriage, and death dates.
  9. To edit an individual from the Pedigree View, go to Edit > Individual. This will open the Edit Individual field for the highlighted individual.
  10. To edit a marriage from the Pedigree View, go to Edit > Marriage. This will open the Edit Marriage field for the highlighted individual.
  11. To add a new individual from the Pedigree View, go to Add > ___. Select the relationship of the new individual to the highlighted individual. You can add a spouse, a child, a mother, a father, or another set of parents. This will open a new, blank Edit Individual field.
