Printing Family Group Records

  1. To print, go to File > Print Reports.
  2. Select the type of report you would like to print.
  3. In Family Group, print a family group record.
  4. Make sure the starting person is who you want it to be. If not, select the correct person using the Search button.
  5. Also make sure the starting person is set to be a Parent or a Child correctly.
  6. If you want to print a series of family group records, put a checkmark in the Use List field. This will bring up another field where you can enter the MRINs of the couple's whose charts you want to print.
  7. Use the Browse button to find the families. When you have compiled the list, click OK.
  8. In the Type of Chart section you can select a Single Family, which will print the record for only one family.
  9. A Cascading family group record will print of charts for all the families in the ancestral line for as many generations as you select.
  10. A Blank form will have no names, dates or places, but will have the fields and labels so you can fill in the family group record by hand.
  11. An Expanded chart has plenty of room between each line. A Medium chart has a little less room. The Condensed chart is fairly crowded, but a lot more will fit on one page.
  12. The Number of Generations section is only available for the Cascading charts. You can select the number of generations of ancestors or descendants (Up or Down).
  13. Sources and Notes that you have included in your file will only appear if you checkmark the corresponding fields in the Sources and Notes Options section.
  14. For Sources citations, you can choose to include Actual Text by checking that field, you can include Comments by selecting that field, and you can print off the Titles Only of the sources if you check that field.
  15. For General Notes, you can include all notes by checking the General Notes field, or you can include only the notes that you have marked with an '!' by checking the Marked notes (!) only field.
  16. If you check the Parent's Only field, none of the children will appear on the report.
  17. If you check the Notes on 1st page field, any notes that fit on the first page will be placed there. Otherwise, all of the notes will appear at the very end of the report.
  18. In the Other Options section, you must select Include Prepared By if you want your submitter information to appear on the chart.
  19. Select the Include photos field to print the primary photo that is linked to an individual.
  20. You can check the Include other events field if you want to print off any New Event/Attribute that you included for an individual.
  21. Check the Parent links field to indicate parent links other than biological (ie Adopted, Guardian, Sealed, etc.).
  22. If you check the Print event fields when blank field, all of the fields will be on the report, even if you do not have the information to fill them.
  23. If you select the Confidential notes field, the notes in your PAF that you have marked with a '~' (indicating that they are confidential) will be on the chart.
  24. If you want all of the spouses of the individuals to appear on the chart, select the Other marriages field.
  25. For the Suppress RIN/MRINs option to be available, you must have appended the RINs (or another number) to the names. See Unit 2 Step 4 to find out how to do this.
  26. Choose the Multiple parent indicators option if you want a plus sign (+) next to the name to indicate there is at least one other set of parents.
  27. The Mark direct line option will only be available for the Cascading charts. Use it to put an X next to the name of the individual who is the direct line ancestor.
  28. To see a preview of what you will be printing, click the Preview field on the right-hand side of the screen.
  29. To see the second page of the preview, click Next Page.
  30. To print from the preview, click Print in the upper left-hand corner.
  31. To close out of the preview, click Close.
