Editing the RIN or MRIN

  1. In the bottom left-hand corner of the Edit Individual field there is the abbreviation RIN followed by a number. This stands for Record Identification Number, and it is a number that PAF assigns to each individual in the file according to the order in which they were entered. For example, if you are the first person that you entered into your file, you are RIN 1. This number cannot be changed in Personal Ancestral File.
  2. In the bottom left-hand corner of the Edit Marriage field there is the abbreviation MRIN followed by a number. This stands for Marriage Record Identification Number, and it is a number that PAF assigns to each marriage in the file according to the order in which it was entered. This number cannot be changed in PAF.
